Yamaha Dirt Bikes

Yamaha

Yamaha dirt bikes were the first two-wheeled bikes I ever bought. Before they were “cool.” Before everyone wanted them. Before Tomac and Deegan both signed with Star Racing. While KTM was still considered the “cool” brand.

It’s kind of like that feeling when you discover an artist or band when they’re small and new, then they blow up… you try to convince everyone that you heard them first. That’s me with Yamaha dirt bikes.

Fast forward a few years, Yamaha dirt bikes are all the rage. They’re winning all the titles and signing a ton of riders to their motocross and supercross teams. A lot of privateer teams are even switching to, or doubling down on, Yamaha.

That said, Yamaha doesn’t only produce racing dirt bikes. They offer bikes that cover nearly every riding condition you could want.

Below is a comprehensive list of all Yamaha dirt bikes and the guides and articles we’ve written about them. We’ll also update this page regularly with any announcements regarding these Yamaha models.

All the sizes of Yamaha dirt bikes are 50cc, 65cc, 85cc, 110cc, 125cc, 200cc, 230cc, 250cc, 450cc, and 700cc.

What is the most popular dirt bike brand?

Right now, the most popular dirt bike brand is Yamaha, in my opinion. It hasn’t always been this way, and it won’t always be this way, but that’s how it is right now. KTM ruled for years before right now, Honda, Kawasaki, and Suzuki had their time, too, and they may again. But, right now, Yamaha is the most popular dirt bike brand.

When did Yamaha start making dirt bikes?

Yamaha started manufacturing dirt bikes in the late 1960s. The Yamaha dirt bike, the DT-1, was released in 1968.
