Levi Kitchen: The Chef and Star’s Rising Star

Levi Kitchen

“Can you hear my spin bike? I’m just doing a cooldown spin.” — Levi Kitchen

Also known by many as The Chef, Levi Kitchen is an up-and-coming motocross and supercross racer who is just starting his professional career amongst the big boys.

Although it was relatively under the radar, especially compared to his teammate’s, Haiden Deegan, Levi Kitchen had a great amateur career.

Unfortunately, Kitchen had a heartbreaking end in the middle of his first pro season, in 2022, due to an injury.

2023 got off to a rocky, and scary, start for Kitchen as well. He had a gnarly get-off at the second Supercross race of the year. Thankfully, he wasn’t injured and went on to win the Triple Crown race the next weekend in Anaheim at A2.

Let’s dive a bit deeper into Kitchen’s life and career to see what the Chef is cooking.

Who Is Levi Kitchen?

Levi Kitchen is a motocross and supercross racer who’s currently competing for the Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing team.

Levi Kitchen was born in Washougal, Washington on February 16, 2001, making him 21 years old at the time of writing this article.

He may be young, but his achievements are starting to turn some heads, especially for a racer who didn’t really take the whole thing seriously.

That’s right, Kitchen stated on the SML Show that he was just racing for fun on the weekends until he moved to Louisiana, where his amateur career started to shine.

Kitchen is considered by many to be one of the sport’s most promising rising stars. Much of this belief comes from how he finished his amateur career — a couple of major titles in 2021.

Levi Kitchen’s Achievements

  • 2020 Amateur Motocross Rider of the Year
  • 2021 Nicky Hayden Motocross Horizon Award Winner
  • 1 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Win (250SX)
  • 2022 Marty Smith Rookie of the Year

Levi Kitchen’s Pro Career Highlights

After a promising career in the amateur division, Kitchen turned pro in 2021. He showed a solid performance despite being a rookie among the pros, competing in nine Pro Motocross and two Supercross events.

By the middle of 2022, Kitchen had acquired one moto win, one podium, and a few top-five finishes — all in his rookie season, earning him his Marty Smith Rookie of the Year award. Unfortunately, the rest of that year’s season was cut short due to a practice crash.

Breaking His Wrist

The Chef wasn’t even competing when he had a season-ending crash. Right after the Southwick National in July 2022, he crashed in a practice session, breaking his wrist and throwing the rest of the season out of the window.

It was heartbreaking for his fans but even more devastating for Kitchen himself, as the next race was the Washougal National – his hometown race.

He later said that Washougal was the first place he rode in when he was only four years old. He also stated that he had the momentum for the first pro win going into his hometown race.

Levi Kitchen Suffers Another Crash

Levi had another hard crash in the 250SX main event in San Diego. He couldn’t escape the turn-one mayhem when he collided with another rider that sent him into a pretty gnarly crash.

He DNF’ed from the race and was spotted in a sling later that night. Luckily, besides some soreness, Kitchen was fine – nothing was broken. His competitor, Austin Forkner, had a very similar crash the race before, but didn’t get out quite as lucky. Forkner is out for the season after his crash.

Just a week after his gnarly holeshot crash, Levi won the overall at the A2 Triple Crown Supercross race, with his teammate, Stilez Robertson, finishing third overall, and Jett Lawrence between the two Star Racing riders.

Levi Kitchen is a brilliant racer with a shining career ahead of him. After getting his first win at the Triple Crown at Anaheim 2, the future is looking great for this young racer.

Let’s just hope he eases on the tough crashes a bit.
