Dirt Bike Movies: The 3 Best

When it comes to dirt bike movies, there are a few different types. There are movies that have a storyline and play out like an actual mojvie, but include dirt bikes as part of the storyline. There are also videos that are considered “movies” that don’t really have a storyline like normal movies, but show a bunch of different dirt bike highlights.

In this post, we’re going to mainly cover movies that include a real storyline like a true movie, but also have dirt bikes in them.

Supercross

One of the reasons why we love this movie is because we feel it relates to our family, specifically myself, my brother, and my dad. Every time we watched this movie, we couldn’t help but relate it to ourselves.

Summary

This dirt bike movie is about the life and brotherhood of K.C. (Steve Howey and Trip Carlyle (Mike Vogel). They are two motocross-racing brothers by night and pool cleaners by day. They spend their days during the week cleaning pools out of Trip’s old, beat-up pickup truck, and racing dirt bikes on the weekends.

We don’t want to give away the main points in the movie, so we’ll keep our overview high-level, but there is drama with Trip racing for pink slips with his dirt bike, and between Trip and K.C. at a local supermoto race.

However, K.C.’s style of racing and his results fit exactly what a factory race team is looking for, which leads to him signing a factory deal for the rest of the motocross season, and even the supercross season.

This deal was great for K.C., but left his brother, Trip, out on his own. Trip joins his girlfriend’s dad’s privateer race team until he crashes and is out for the season.

At this point, Trip joins K.C.’s team and helps lead him in his future supercross races.

Reviews

We couldn’t disagree more with the Rotten Tomatoes score for this movie. It holds a rating of 5% based on 73 reviews. According to the reviewers, “While it showcases some cool stunts, Supercross feels like an infomercial for its titular sport, with undeveloped characters and a shopworn plot.”

Like Motocrossed below, it’s not necessarily a cinematic masterpiece with an award-winning storyline, but it’s still a great, entertaining movie for those interested in dirt bike movies. It seems like the reviewers are just movie reviewers, not fans of dirt bikes.

Marshall Bennett was a promising motocross racing prospect who decided to hang up his motocross boots to join the military and become a motorcycle rider in the Army Rangers.

After years in the military, Bennett was blown up and severely injured. Doctors were able to save his legs, but he was forced to be medically discharged from the Army.

This gave Bennett a second chance with racing. Racing also was the only way he could help his dad pay for his farm that he was behind on the mortgage. If the mortgage didn’t get paid, the farm would be lost.

After assembling a small team with a local dirt bike shop, his wife, family, and friends, Bennett gave it another shot at becoming a professional motocross racer.

We’re convinced that most of the people watching these three dirt bike movies are simply general movie critics and not dirt bike fans. Critics on Rotten Tomatoes scored this movie just a 50%, but the audience scored it significantly better at 82%. It has a 5.9 rating out of 10 on IMDb.

Motocrossed

Summary

This is the dirt bike movie of so many’s childhoods — especially if you were 6-12 years old in 2001.

The movie starts with a young, up-and-coming dirt bike racer, Andrew Carson, getting a shot in a professional series after spending time as a privateer with no support. Unfortunately, Andrew gets injured by breaking his leg in practice. He was riding on his practice track at his house with his sister, Andrea “Andi” Carson.

Andrea felt it was all her fault that her brother got injured and was losing everything he worked for, at least temporarily. Because of this, Andrea decided to do the unthinkable while her dad was out of town scouting for a fill-in rider.

Andrea teamed up with her mom, behind her dad’s back, to compete in the professional series as “Andi” Carson. Andrew shortened to Andy, and so did Andrea, so with a haircut, she was able to make it work, since she and Andrew were twins.

The rest of the movie is filled with ups and downs, fill-in rider drama, and a mini love story.

Overall, the movie wasn’t loved by critics either. The movie has only received a 6.5 rating out of 10 on IMDb out of 5,200+ reviews. That said, the movie was nominated for “Best Family TV Movie or Special on Network/Cable.”

Is it a cinematic masterpiece with an amazing storyline? Absolutely not. But, this movie was the childhood for so many who love the sport of motocross, and it will forever be a classic.
