2022 Kawasaki KLX140
The 2022 KLX140 has a single-cylinder 144cc air-cooled four-stroke engine. The new KLX140 models offer a big bike feel in a mini package.
Compared to the 2017 KLX140G, the new 2022 KLX140 model offers a much friendlier ride to new riders.
The appearance of the 2022 KLX140 is awesome and stands out from the traditional trail bike look. Kawasaki found inspiration in KX motocross bikes, and people love that decision.
The KLX140 also has a 5-speed manual transmission (meaning it has a clutch). It has an electric star and is not fuel injected (it’s carbureted). (We’re hoping Kawasaki adds fuel injection to its 110’s and 140’s soon, following its competitor Honda’s CRF110).
The KLX140, KLX140L, and KLX140G are virtually the same bike but have different wheels, tires, and seat heights.

2022 KLX140 Updates
What was previously known as KLX 140, KLX140G, and KLX140L are now KLX140R, KLX140RL, and KLX140RF. With the new updates and names, Kawasaki may confuse many customers. Therefore, we are here to help you and explain what the fuss is all about.
KLX140R
The KLX140R has no big changes despite the additional letter and smaller wheels. This model is the smallest and shortest of the 140cc family and offers a clutch from Kawasaki. The KLX140R has a 30.7” seat height and 14″ and 17” wheels and tires. This edition is perfect if you are about 4′ 8″ to 5′ tall.
KLX140RL
In this model, the L stands for larger wheels, and the entire frame of the bike is slightly bigger. Although the bike is taller, its bigger tires roll more easily on the trail, and obstacles can be avoided much more easily.
The KLX140RL seat height is 31.5”, and the tires and wheels are 16″ and 19”. This model is a great choice if you are over 5 feet tall.
KLX140RF
This bike has the biggest wheels, and it is full-size. What was previously called the KLX140G now the model has an additional “F” that stands for full-size wheels.
The bike is eligible for adults with a late start on their dirt bike journey because it doesn’t have too much power and rides easily. The KLX140RF model has 18″ and 21″ wheels.
Even though the bike does not have the stability of a big adult-size dirt bike because of its shorter wheelbase and overall geometry, it is still a great choice for beginners.
The KLX140RF has a seat height of 33.9” seat height and fits best for 5′ 4″ to 5′ 8″ tall riders.
